Google announces revenue shares for AdSense
Google has revealed their revenue shares for the AdSense network in a move to increase transparency.
Content providers make up the majority of Google’s AdSense publishers and they earn a 68 per cent revenue share worldwide. So Google pays 68 per cent of the money they receive from advertisers for AdSense for content ads.
The remaining amount that is kept by Google is to cover the costs of their investment in AdSense. This includes the development of technology and features that help users make the most profit out of these ads.
It was also revealed that publishers keep 51 per cent on the search front. This amount is to cover the costs of the research and development when it comes to improving and expanding the search and AdWords technologies.
This news has come shortly after it was revealed that the Federal Trade Commission closed an investigation it was carrying out into Google’s AdMob acquisition. The Federal Trade Commission discovered that the AdMob deal was unlikely to affect competition in the mobile advertising space.
The FTC said: ‘While the FTC concluded that this merger would not harm competition, its review underscores the need for ensuring robust competition in markets of new and emerging technology so that consumers reap the full benefits of innovation’.
